Hi, classmates! I'm Nick. Welcome to my first blogpost assignment.
My favorite CS experience on campus would probably be the group project that I did last summer in Cloud Computing. I and two others had near-free rein to build a cloud application together. We made a cookie clicker game, and I was responsible for implementing authentication, some basic anti-cheat measures, and the server's API endpoints. This project was a lot of fun because it gave me a level of freedom that I haven't had before in a pure CS project.
Outside of class, my favorite CS experience was probably when I created a browser extension that added extra content to a web browser game. Part of why I'm drawn to CS is because I like to create things, and technical design & programming is my way of doing that. This browser extension let me flex my creative muscles for game design and asset creation, all while staying inside the (comfortable) bounds of tech. I also enjoyed the challenge of trying to implement new game content when I couldn't actually modify the game's code or read its internal state.
So there's my first blogpost assignment done. And it's all on time!
